LOWER MAINLAND — Police officers disguised as Santa’s helpers brought smiles and Christmas cheer to some very deserving kids this past week.

Members of the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team arrived Santa-style for their 4th annual volunteer event at the Ronald McDonald House at B.C. Children’s Hospital on Friday, December 20. IERT members utilized their expert repelling skills to transport bags of Christmas gifts down the side of the Ronald McDonald House, according to a statement from B.C. RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Vanessa Munn.

“This day is one all of our members look forward to each year,” said Constable Alexandre Lévesque, who has been working to organize this year’s event. “Having the opportunity to spend time with these amazing kids, showing them our equipment and seeing their faces as we drop down and wave through their windows is incredibly special.”

IERT was joined by the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Services (IPDS) and brought their Armoured Response Vehicle (ARV), trucks and other specialized equipment and vehicles.
