Loic Kwemi has been named Canada Soccer’s futsal player of the year after finishing second in scoring at the 2024 CONCACF Futsal Championship.

The 27-year-old from Montreal scored six goals in three games, leading Canada to the quarterfinals at the CONCACAF Championship in April in Managua, Nicaragua, where Canada lost 3-2 to defending champion Costa Rica. Kwemi missed the quarterfinal through suspension.

Futsal is a five-a-side indoor game played in two 20-minute halves.

In the outdoor game, Kwemi scored in CS Saint-Laurent’s penalty shootout win over the Canadian Premier League’s HFX Wanderers FC in May in Canadian Championship play before signing with Winnipeg’s Valour FC in late June.
