Abbotsford man wins big Lotto Max jackpot, eyes retirement savings

ABBOTSFORD — An Abbotsford man has the bigger picture in mind now that he’s won a $500,000 prize from the November 29, 2024 Lotto Max draw.

B.C. Lottery Corporation announced Wednesday (Dec. 11) that Cory Maxwell matched 4/4 Extra numbers from the Lotto Max draw, earning him a cool half-million.

“I was at home,” Maxwell said of the moment he realized he won after using the BCLC Lotto! App to check his ticket. “I didn’t believe it at first, it took me a little bit of time.”

Maxwell broke the news first to his wife. “She was shocked, too!”

Maxwell says he plans to save most of his winnings for retirement but said he will celebrate by buying a new vehicle.

Maxwell bought the winning ticket at Otter Co-op Mount Lehman Gas Bar on Blueridge Drive and Mount Lehman Road in Abbotsford.
