Snowfall warning: Up to 25 cm possible on Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt

HOPE – Canada’s weather agency has issued a snowfall warning for the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt alerting drivers of hazardous conditions.

Environment Canada expects Saturday morning rain will transition to snowfall with amounts between 15 and 25 cm anticipated until late Sunday afternoon.

“Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow,” the agency said in its advisory.

“Weather in the mountains can change suddenly, resulting in hazardous driving conditions.”

Authorities suggest watching for tail lights ahead and being prepared to stop.
