UPDATE: Two men arrested near burning vehicle after shots were fired near an Abbotsford home Thursday morning
UPDATE 2:45 P.M. THURSDAY: AbbyPD Sgt. Paul Walker says two men have been arrested near a burning vehicle after an incident of shots fired in a residential neighbourhood Thursday morning. Sgt. Walker says AbbyPD patrol officers were dispatched to the 2100 block of Holly Street for the reports of shots fired in the area. Before police arrived, the suspects left the area of the shooting in a red sedan.
Sgt. Walker says just before 8 a.m., a vehicle fire was reported to authorities at the closed Bradner rest stop along Highway 1. Officers attended and learned from witnesses that individuals were observed running from what was believed to be a suspect vehicle. Authorities set up a containment operation in which multiple police personnel flooded the area. The Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service (IPDS) was called in to assist, resulting in two men being located and arrested. Those men currently remain in police custody.
Sgt. Walker says investigators believe that a third suspect remains outstanding and was last seen in the area of Highway 1 and Bradner Road. The AbbyPD Major Crime Unit is leading this investigation, with support from the AbbyPD Forensic Identification Unit and additional frontline officers.
Investigators are asking for witnesses and any dashcam footage from drivers who were in the vicinity of both locations to come forward and speak to police.
