CHILLIWACK — A Chilliwack mom of three kids who is expecting a fourth child around Christmas time has been devastated after her husband passed last week.

According to the text of an urgent online appeal, Morry Reid worked as a full-time department manager at Home Depot. His wife, Vanessa, had just gone on maternity leave from the school district since she is roughly 36 weeks pregnant and expecting a baby girl at Christmas.

On Monday, November 25, Morry was relaxing after a hard day of building an addition onto their dream home. He had taken the job upon himself in addition to his regular duties at Home Depot.

Morry texted Vanessa that he would help her paint her toenails the next day. When she went to go check on him, he was unresponsive. Despite best efforts by Vanessa, their 16-year-old child Oakley and Chilliwack paramedics, he was pronounced deceased.

A GoFundMe started by Dana Drope hopes to support Vanessa and their three kids, Oakley, Autumn and Bajorn.

“Their dream home has not yet been finished and we are desperately looking for help to have that completed,” Drope wrote online. “We are also looking to help Vanessa with bills during this very hard time of adjustment.”

The GoFundMe appeal states Morry was a valued and respected member of the Chilliwack community, and Vanessa had just left on mat leave the day that he passed.

“This is just so unexpected and such devastating news for the family and they could really use whatever support you can offer at this time,” Drope wrote. “Thank you.”
