LANGLEY — Elections Canada says it will not mail voter information cards to registered electors in Cloverdale-Langley City ahead of this month’s federal by-election due to a service disruption at Canada Post.

The federal agency says registered voters in Cloverdale (Surrey) and Langley are instead encouraged to visit elections.ca and enter their postal code in the Voter Information Service box for information on where and when to vote and the accessibility of their polling station. They can also call Elections Canada at 1-800-463-6868.

The by-election features Liberal Party candidate Madison Fleischer, Conservative Party candidate Tamara Jansen, NDP candidate Vanessa Sharma, Green Party candidate Patrick McCutcheon, People’s Party of Canada candidate Ian Kennedy, and Libertarian Party candidate Alex Joehl.

Since voter information cards won’t be issued, Elections Canada encourages electors in Cloverdale–Langley City to check their registration using the Online Voter Registration Service. Elections Canada won’t be mailing the guide to the by-election to households within the riding.

Electors have until Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 6 p.m. to register or update their address prior to election day on Monday, Dec. 16. They can do so by utilizing Elections Canada’s Online Voter Registration Service or by contacting the Elections Canada office in Cloverdale–Langley City.

Advance polls are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6 through to Monday, Dec. 9. Election day polls are open from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16.

Elections Canada is hiring election workers to fill various paid positions in the Cloverdale–Langley City by-election. Anyone interested in serving their community can apply online at elections.ca or contact the local Elections Canada office for more information.
