Abbotsford Mission Salvation Army Kettle campaign to kick off Friday
ABBOTSFORD — The Abbotsford-Mission chapter of the Salvation Army will kick off its 2024 Christmas Kettle Campaign on Friday (Nov. 29) with a goal to raise $150,000 to support individuals and families in need. The funds will benefit the Centre of Hope on Gladys Avenue, enabling programs that provide practical assistance to the community.
“We are excited to invite the communities of Abbotsford and Mission to participate in this year’s campaign in a fun and meaningful way,” said Kim Hissink, fundraising coordinator. Volunteers can ring bells at any of the 15 kettle locations, 12 in Abbotsford and three in Mission, until December 24. More than 200 volunteer shifts remain unfilled, and community groups, families, and individuals of all ages are encouraged to sign up through this online link.
The Angel Tree program will also return to Sevenoaks Shopping Centre, running November 29 through December 15, where donors can fulfill holiday wish lists for local children. The campaign features “Tip Tap” technology for easy donations via debit or credit cards at kettles.
Majors Ruth and Ian Gillingham highlighted the importance of community support which the Salvation Army has seen over its 38 years in Abbotsford. “This year is unlike any other as we have worked alongside our community partners to care for and meet the needs of so many,” they said.
