HOPE – Environment Canada has issued a highway warning for the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt due to the likelihood of 15 cm of snow accumulating on sections of the roadway.

Canada’s weather agency says gusty easterly winds could create periodic blowing snow, further reducing visibility.

“The system is forecast to remain offshore over the next few days, with associated bands of precipitation pushing into the region today and bringing heavy snow,” the statement said.

“Near 15 cm of snow can be expected near the summit.” The warning says roads, walkways, and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
