UPDATE 11:45 A.M. WEDNESDAY: North Vancouver RCMP says an alleged suspect wanted in connection with a rash of groping incidents has turned himself in.

Following two appeals for public assistance on October 2 and November 19 and the release of newly obtained video of a suspect in an effort to further the investigation, an arrest was made on Tuesday, November 19.

“Police would like to thank the media and public for their assistance in sharing the video,” said Constable Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for the North Vancouver RCMP.

NORTH VANCOUVER — Mounties in North Vancouver are issuing a new advisory as they seek to identify an alleged sexual assault suspect with newly obtained video.

According to a statement from North Vancouver RCMP, police advised the public on November 2 about three sexual assaults that occurred in the Lower Lonsdale area. Police say a fourth victim has since come forward after seeing the media release, alleging that she too was groped from behind by a man riding an electronic bike on July 22. A witness was able to obtain cell phone video of the suspect fleeing the area.

Investigators are releasing that video and a still image of the suspect in hopes that someone may recognize him. That ink can be found here: https://bit.ly/3ARX2Jt.

Police say they are investigating a fifth incident of groping that occurred on November 14 near West Keith Road and Chesterfield Avenue where a female pedestrian was groped by a man from behind. The suspect in this incident is described as approximately 6 feet tall, brown skin tone, hairy legs, wearing a black sweater with white logo on the front left corner and black shorts.

Although there might be similarities in each incident, police are not ruling out that there might be other suspects involved.

“Investigators are working extremely hard on all these cases, reviewing CCTV footage, conducting extensive neighborhood canvasses and following up on all leads to identify the suspect(s),” said Constable Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for the North Vancouver RCMP. “Our efforts have been negative so far and we are seeking public assistance to help further these investigations by identifying the suspect caught on video. Your assistance could be pivotal in bringing these investigations to a successful resolution and ensuring the safety of our community.”

Anyone with information about any of these incidents is asked to call North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 and quote file #2024-19636. Those who wish to provide information but want to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
