Abbotsford Hospital acquires critical new rehab equipment thanks to donors
ABBOTSFORD — The Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation says Abbotsford Regional Hospital has acquired critical new equipment in its physiotherapy department that significantly advances rehab services for patients in care at the hospital.
In a news release from Dr. Lakhbir Jassal, the foundation says two new innovative pieces of equipment, a NeuroGym sit-to-stand trainer, that play a crucial role in encouraging early weight bearing and active mobilization in the hips and knees. Dr. Jassal says the advanced trainer is intended to support patients in their recovery journey, promoting mobility and independence.
In addition, the hospital has introduced the new Bungee Mobility Trainer for higher-functioning patients. This equipment facilitates dynamic support and safe and effective movement training, enhancing the overall rehabilitation experience for patients.
“This new equipment is incredibly valuable for both our staff and patients, offering innovative ways to support patient progress safely—methods we haven’t had access to before. We are truly grateful for these new additions to our equipment and have already started using them to enhance patient care” said Jason Krahn, physiotherapy practice leader at ARH.
