UPDATE, 9:20 P.M.: Highway 1 remains blocked as of 9:15 p.m. due to an unfolding police incident east of Annis Road (exit 129) in Chilliwack. A Chilliwack resident whose cousin and young daughter are stuck in the incident tells Fraser Valley Today the following: “Okay, they [police] got us turned around but now we’re stopped because they [police] have stopped traffic both ways so emergency can get in and we’re on the wrong side of the highway. They said we will be here until they resolve the incident and open the highway and we will then be turned back eastbound.”

Dispatch advised a Chilliwack-area fire agency at approximately 7:55 p.m. that RCMP might have to call in a negotiator to assist with the situation.
One Chilliwack resident told Fraser Valley Today Sunday night that her cousin was caught up in the incident.
“They [police] have moved her behind a police car and told her to turn her music up,” a friend told the Chilliwack resident about her cousin. “They [police] have guns, running past her car. Moving to people to safety. She is scared and asking for prayer.”
The woman’s cousin had been laying on her vehicle’s floorboard as the incident unfolded.
Fraser Valley Today received a picture from a witness who said two RCMP officers had rifles and a spike strip deployed.
