Open houses, survey begin public engagement on new transit plan for Central Fraser Valley

VICTORIA – BC Transit will use an online survey and host open houses throughout November to gather public feedback on bus deployment across Abbotsford and Mission in the coming years.

The provincial Crown corporation will hold four in-person events on Tuesday and Wednesday as officials begin work on a multi-year plan to replace an action plan last updated in 2018.

“This Transit Future Action Plan (TFAP) will identify transit service improvements over the next one to seven years,” the agency said in a release on Friday.

“This plan will focus specifically on local routes within Abbotsford and Mission, guiding decision-making for transit in the Central Fraser Valley.”

Transit planners say the feedback is part of an effort to “strengthen the link between transportation and land use” and direct future transportation plans.

The online survey, which asks residents how often they use the service and where they are located, is active until Nov. 22.

Residents can attend open house events at the following locations:

November 12

3 to 5 p.m. at the Mission Library (33257 2nd Ave., Mission)

6 to 8 p.m. at Abbotsford Rec Centre (2499 McMillan Rd., Abbotsford)

November 1311 a.m. to 1 p.m. at UFV Abbotsford (Student Union Building, 33844 King Rd., Abbotsford)

3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Mission Leisure Centre (7650 Grand St., Mission)

Paper surveys are also available at Welton Common (7337 Welton Street) in Mission until Nov. 25.
