Train derailment in Abbotsford causes road closure near U.S. border

ABBOTSFORD — The Abbotsford Police Department says the rail crossing at 4 Avenue and West Railway Avenue will be closed until further notice after a train derailed overnight.

In a brief social media post at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday morning, AbbyPD says there were no injuries or damage associated with the derailment.

Police say they are waiting for heavy machinery to arrive, and motorists should expect delays in the area.

Access to the U.S. border is not impacted by the road closure, police say.
