
Update Tuesday morning: Hundreds of customers in Chilliwack still without power following fierce wind storm
UPDATE 10:10 A.M. TUESDAY: There are still 13 power outages in Chilliwack affecting a little over 250 customers, including an outage impacting 53 customers in Cheam First Nation and 80 up in Promontory.
UPDATE 6:40 A.M., TUESDAY: An estimated 400-450 customers in Chilliwack still lack power Tuesday morning after a fierce wind storm walloped the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley Monday. That includes 80 customers in Promontory, 181 in Ryder Lake, 26 in Eastern Hillsides, 23 on Upper Prairie Road, 20 on Hack Brown Road near Camp Charis, 53 in Cheam First Nation, and 45 in Rosedale near Camp River Road. Post Creek, a remote Chilliwack subdivision just west of Chilliwack Lake, has had its power restored.
UPDATE 10:35 P.M., MONDAY: BC Hydro says its repair crews continue to make “good progress” restoring power to customers impacted by today’s windstorm. Around 253,000 customers have been restored, which represents roughly 87 per cent of the more than 290,000 customers impacted. Over 1,500 customers in Rosedale, Popkum and Cheam First Nation remain without power Monday night as of 10:35 p.m. Other areas of Chilliwack appear to have had power restored, though pockets remain without power.
UPDATE 6:30 P.M., MONDAY: The biggest power outage that remains in Chilliwack starts just east of Yarrow and continues like a straight line east along Chilliwack Lake Road all the way to Chilliwack Lake. Nearly 2,400 customers don’t have power as of 6:30 p.m. Monday evening.
