ABBOTSFORD – One person was sent to the hospital after a single-vehicle crash on Highway 1 early Saturday in Abbotsford.

Abbotsford Police and the local Fire Rescue Service say they were called out to the scene just before 6 a.m. on the highway at the Sumas River Bridge heading toward the Whatcom Road off-ramp.

A BC Emergency Health Services spokesperson said paramedics also attended the crash and treated one patient, who was then transported to the hospital.

The incident closed the left lane on the highway for several hours while the Ministry of Transportation & Infrastructure crews assessed damage and eventually dispatched workers to repair portions of a railing.
