Mission RCMP appeal for help in locating 65-year-old kayaker

MISSION — Mounties in Mission are asking for the public’s help in locating a man who was last seen over a week ago.

According to a statement from police, 65-year-old Kenneth Sookocheff went missing on Sunday, October 20. Police say Sookocheff lives on a houseboat on the Fraser River, in the area directly south of Mission City. A red kayak and lifejacket that he kept on shore is missing, although it is unknown whether he used it recently, or whether it may have been taken by someone else.

Mission Search and Rescue conducted a shoreline search but did not locate any sign of Sookocheff or his kayak.

Police provided the following description of Sookocheff:

• Caucasian male
• 5 ft. 8 in. (173 cm)
• Grey hair
• Blue eyes
