CHILLIWACK — Mounties in Chilliwack have confirmed a search warrant was executed at a home on McNaught Road in the Little Mountain area of Chilliwack last week, culminating in the arrest of a repeat offender known to police.

According to a statement from Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener, Chilliwack RCMP and Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team initiated a search warrant on McNaught Road in Chilliwack Thursday evening, Oct. 24. The search warrant led to what police call the “safe apprehension” of Kusone Robinson, a high-risk offender well known to the Chilliwack RCMP. Robinson was designated under the Repeat Violent Offending Intervention Initiative (REVOII) program by the Chilliwack RCMP in 2023.

Police say the investigation recently began when Robinson was observed by the Chilliwack RCMP Priority Target Team operating a motor vehicle contrary to the conditions of his probation order and driving prohibition order. Police say they made ongoing efforts to locate and safely arrest Robinson. A few days later, the Chilliwack RCMP Frontline Section was able to gather evidence to believe Robinson was actively involved in drug trafficking within Chilliwack.

Through investigative avenues, police concluded that Robinson was staying in a residence on McNaught Road in Chilliwack, which culminated in the execution of a search warrant Thursday, October 24. With the assistance of LMD IERT, several individuals were safely arrested, including Robinson. As a result of the subsequent search of the residence, evidence of additional criminal code offences were located. Robinson is currently being held in custody while the court process continues.

Robinson, a 22 year old male from Chilliwack, is facing the following charges:

  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon;
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm;
  • Possession of a Firearm;
  • Obstructing a Police Officer;
  • Failing to Comply with a Probation Order;
  • Failing to Comply with a Release Order;
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking; and
  • Driving While Prohibited.

“This investigation was a collaborative effort between the Chilliwack RCMP Frontline Section and our Priority Target Team. It speaks to the commitment we have in maintaining a safe community for the residents of Chilliwack and keeping drugs and firearms off our streets. This is another example that speaks to the success of the REVOII program,” said Cpl. Kiener. “We want to thank the Lower Mainland IERT for their assistance in the safe and successful conclusion of this investigation.”

No one was harmed as a result of the police incident, Cpl. Kiener said.

Multiple neighbours in the area reported seeing and hearing sirens, armed police, a drone, and flash bangs the night of the police incident. One neighbour said police told her a suspect was armed and residents needed to stay inside. Another resident said police ordered a suspect to come out of a home as they were under arrest.

Another neighbour said she was coming home at 9:20 p.m. to the McNaught Road area where police were stationed and pulled over to the side of the road to better assess what was happening. She exited her vehicle to see if she could even access her home, but was vehemently ordered by a police officer to get back into her car. The officer advised the woman she could try accessing her home on Paula Crescent, which she attempted to do. However, another officer intervened and said driving around a police roadblock was illegal and could result in an arrest. The woman said she apologized and was simply following instructions of another police officer.
