KENT, B.C. — A dog was rescued from the Chehalis River Canyon on Saturday evening after falling onto a rock in the middle of the water body, according to Kent Harrison Search and Rescue (KHSAR).

KHSAR’s swiftwater and rope rescue technicians were called to the scene by the RCMP just before 5:30 p.m.

They safely coaxed the stranded dog from the rock and guided it into a packraft, which was then paddled to shore.

The rescue group expressed gratitude to Chilliwack Search and Rescue on social media for their support during the operation.

Kent Harrison Search and Rescue is an unpaid volunteer organization with about two dozen trained members that provide community assistance along side the RCMP, BC Ambulance Service and several Fire Departments.
