LANGLEY – A new fire hall planned for Langley’s south end is expected to reduce response times in and around the Brookswood-Fernridge area, according to township officials.

During a groundbreaking ceremony Friday at the 27th Avenue site where the $32-million facility will be built, Mayor Eric Woodward said the project was in response to a growing community.

“Once completed, the new fire hall for Brookswood-Fernridge will significantly reduce response times, providing better service and safety for our residents,” Woodward said.

“We need to prepare for growth ahead of time and ensure our infrastructure and public safety are ready.”

The four-bay Fire Hall No. 5 will house both career and paid-call firefighters and include a post-disaster facility, decontamination facilities, and training rooms.

The station will also be built with energy-efficient infrastructure to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

“This modern fire hall will reduce response times throughout many areas of the township by approximately 21 seconds on average, and by over 3.5 minutes for the Brookswood-Fernridge area specifically,” Township Fire Chief Jason de Roy said.

The completion date for the station is set for early 2026.
