Sardis Falcons blank Mission in wet, muddy battle

MISSION — The wet and muddy conditions during Friday’s steady downpours were no match for the determined Sardis Falcons.

The Falcons bounced back from a tough loss the week prior and returned to its winning ways with a 21-0 road victory over the Mission Roadrunners.

The Falcons continued their good season to date with strong play from their senior players, anchored by running back and linebacker Tim Bullert, who rushed the ball 13 times for 51 yards, and had 7 solo tackles and one interception on defence. Defensive end Cache Klein was dominant on the line of scrimmage as he picked up several tackles and one quarterback sack. Sardis capitalized on Mission turnovers. Senior defensive tackle Davyn Gallant recovered two fumbles, senior safety Kaein Jenner and linebacker Jeremy St. Denis had one recovery each.

Senior quarterback Blake Mailhot connected with Max Murphy and Jeremy St. Denis on touchdown scoring tosses. Mailhot also rushed for one touchdown on a 5-yard quarterback sneak.

“It was cold and wet out there, but we made enough plays to win this game,” Sardis Falcons head coach Sukh Parmar said. “We capitalized on Mission’s turnovers and scored in key moments of the game.I thought our line play was excellent. We were physical up front. Our senior linemen, Brayden Delorme, Cache Klein, Carter Holek, Davyn Gallant, and Max Sawer competed hard and made plays on both sides of the ball. We slowed down Mission’s run game, and we did a good job defending the pass and getting pressure on the Mission quarterback. As coaches, we are proud of all our seniors. They have continued to get better since their junior varsity years.”

Sardis travels to Cloverdale Athletic Park in Surrey to play the Sullivan Heights Stars this Friday, Oct. 25. Kickoff is 3 p.m.
