LANGLEY – Police have closed a roadway in Langley due to concerns that a sinkhole may be forming beneath the pavement.

RCMP say the slump, seen early Saturday morning on 40th avenue between 216 and 212 Streets, is tied to a deluge of inclement weather in Southern B.C.

“Heavy rainfall within the past 24 hours has compromised the stability of the roadway on 40th Avenue,” Langley RCMP Cpl. Zynal Sharoom said in a statement.

Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians are advised to avoid the area and find alternate routes.
