MISSION – A 17-year-old is facing two charges following a crash last Sunday night in Mission that sent a driver to the hospital.

RCMP believe a blue Dodge Caravan and a gray Ford pickup collided just before 10 p.m. at the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Nelson Street.

The collision pinned a woman behind the steering wheel of the blue minivan, while the truck, which is suspected of having made a left turn before the incident, fled the scene, according to investigators.

The woman was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The teen was later arrested by police after they saw the suspect walking away from the Ford, which had been abandoned in the area of Nelson Street and Silverdale Avenue.

RCMP say the 17-year-old was the owner of the pickup and faces two charges: failing to stop after an accident and public mischief.

Investigators say the probe into the incident is ongoing and they are seeking witnesses and dash camera footage.
