SURREY – An Abbotsford police officer may face charges for using excessive force during a summer arrest near Mt. Waddington Avenue and Clearbrook Road.

B.C.’s police watchdog, the Independent Investigations Office (IIO), suggests that an APD officer may have committed an offense during the arrest of a man accused of an indecent act.

The incident occurred on July 31 around 7:30 p.m., when an APD officer in an unmarked vehicle was traveling along Clearbrook Avenue and stopped at Mt. Waddington to engage a suspect.

An IIO report states that the man was later transported to the hospital after suffering a serious injury during an altercation.
