ABBOTSFORD — BC Highway Patrol says the driver of a semi-trailer towing a modular home has been charged under the Motor Vehicle Act after it struck an overpass on Highway 1 west of Chilliwack last week.

According to a statement from police Wednesday morning (Oct. 16), the driver has been charged following the vehicle incident that caused a temporary shutdown of Highway 1 at No. 3 Road in Abbotsford.

Police say the collision happened Friday afternoon, October 11, just before 12:30 p.m. The commercial semi-trailer was travelling westbound in the left (passing) lane when it struck the overpass.

BC Highway Patrol says officers made sure that everyone was safe. Once they investigated the circumstances of the crash, police laid a charge of drive without due care and attention against the driver of the semi-trailer.
