Elections BC sets up office in former Shaw customer service centre in Chilliwack

CHILLIWACK — Voters in Chilliwack who can’t wait to cast their ballot before advance polling dates or Election Day itself have another option.

Elections BC has temporarily opened a Chilliwack-Cultus Lake district electoral office at 111-44981 Commercial Court, the former site of Shaw customer service before it closed in 2023 as a result of the merger with Rogers.

Eligible voters can simply walk into the office, present acceptable ID, declare they are eligible and have not voted already, and cast their ballot. The ballot is processed through an electronic scanning machine which tells voters their ballot has been successfully accepted.

The operating hours at the district electoral office are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The Commercial Court location can be reached at 778-704-7251.

The district electoral office of the Chilliwack North riding has temporarily opened at 9214 Mary Street, formerly Chilliwack Community Services. It has similar hours of 9-5 Monday through Friday, 10-4 on Saturday.

For advance voting days, eligible voters in Chilliwack-Cultus Lake can vote at The’í:tselíya – S.A.Y. Health Centre, 7256 Chilliwack River Road, Thursday, October 10 through Sunday, October 13, and Tuesday and Wednesday, October 15-16; Tyson Elementary School, 45170 South Sumas Road, this Friday, October 11 through Sunday, October 13; UFV Chilliwack Campus, 45190 Caen Avenue, Tuesday and Wednesday, October 15-16; and Yarrow Community Centre, 4670 Community Street, on Thursday, October 10, and Tuesday and Wednesday, October 15-16.

For advance voting days in the Chilliwack North riding, voters can head to Evergreen Hall, 9291 Corbould Street, Thursday, Oct. 10 through Sunday, Oct. 13, and Tuesday and Wednesday, October 15-16; and Rosedale Traditional School, 50850 Yale Road, this Friday, Oct. 11 and Saturday, Oct. 12.
