Impaired Goggles challenge, cell block tours highlight Chilliwack RCMP open house

CHILLIWACK — Cell block tours, a barbecue, and an Impaired Goggles challenge are just some of the activities Chilliwack’s RCMP Detachment will feature during an open house on Saturday.

The free event will showcase several policing tools, including its drone program, police dog services, and various emergency vehicles, such as ATVs, motorcycles, and even canoes.

“We look forward to this opportunity to meet our local residents and highlight the services and programs available to help keep our city safe,” said Supt. Davy Lee from the Upper Fraser Valley detachment.

The Impaired Goggles demonstration, which showcases eyewear that alters a wearer’s balance like alcohol and drug impairment do, will run with the other presentations between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Airport Road detachment.

BC Highway Patrol and the Explosives Disposal Unit will also be on hand, along with activities for kids, including face painting.
