CHILLIWACK — Mainstreet Research, which says it is recognized as one of Canada’s top public opinion and market research firms, now says the B.C. Conservatives are favoured at over 50 per cent to win a majority of seats in next month’s provincial election.

According to its latest dashboard Wednesday morning (Sept. 25), Mainstreet Research says the B.C. Conservatives are leading across the province with 44.1 per cent of support, ahead of the B.C. New Democratic Party at 41.9 per cent. Mainstreet projects both parties will win 46 seats apiece, and the B.C. Green Party will win a single seat.

Mainstreet Research says the B.C. Conservatives, headed up by John Rustad, have a 56 per cent chance at a majority, while the NDP have a 40.7 per cent chance at a majority.

Back in July, a poll from Mainstreet that surveyed 1,048 adults ages 18 or older from July 4-6 found that 37 per cent of decided voters said they would select either the B.C. NDP, headed up by Premier David Eby, or the Conservative of Party of B.C. This poll was conducted back when B.C. United was still in the game, before they later folded in August.
