CHILLIWACK — The Sardis Falcons clicked on all cylinders Friday night in a resounding 55-0 win over Earl Marriot Secondary of Surrey, relying on outstanding performances from its stellar running back crew of Claudio Gomez, Tim Bullert and Brady Boisclair.

The Falcons had no problem dispatching the Mariners in regular season action, scoring early and often thanks to an effective run game. Gomez, a senior, scored on a 25-yard outside run, punctuated by an extra point from kicker Max Murphy. Gomez later added a 10-yard touchdown run to propel the Falcons. Bullert picked up two TD scores on six carries, while Boisclair, a junior, had two touchdowns himself. Junior receiver Jimmy Gao hauled in a 13-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Blake Mailhot.

On defence, Bullert, a linebacker, teamed up with with safety Kaein Jenner, defensive end Cache Klein, and linebacker Jeremy St. Denis to hold the Mariners at bay. Bullert recorded 9 solo tackles, while Jenner had two interceptions. Jenner returned one interception for a 35-yard touchdown. St. Denis recorded a safety early in the first half.

“I thought we played well. We managed to get all of our young and inexperienced players into the game,” said Sardis Falcons varsity coach Sukh Parmar. “This will help them develop as players, and it serves our football program well in the long term. I thought our specials teams were better than last week. Max Murphy kicked the ball well. We had Earl Marriot pinned deep in their own end on several occasions. I thought our run game improved and our offensive line took another big step in execution and physicality.”

Sardis takes a week off before playing the Robert Batemen Timberwolves of Abbotsford on Friday, October 4.

“They are an outstanding football program,” Coach Parmar said. “We have two weeks to prepare. We need to play our best game of the year to be competitive against them.”
