ABBOTSFORD – A group of veterans and civilians in Abbotsford will join a nationwide walk raising awareness for those who serve in Canada’s forces.

The seventh annual Canadian Walk For Veterans will take place Saturday morning at Mill Lake Park, with participants hitting the road between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., according to organizers.

“Each year, the Canadian Walk for Veterans invites Canadians to walk together in recognition of serving members of the armed forces, veterans, and their families,” spokesperson Christian Lane said in a release.

“The walk also provides an opportunity to learn more about the mental and physical challenges faced by those who serve our country and to recognize the sacrifices they and their families make on behalf of Canadians.”

A display of vehicles, courtesy of the Canadian Military Education Centre and the Western Command Military Vehicle Historical Society, will accompany live music by the 15th Field Artillery Regimental brass quintet during Saturday’s event.

The event also includes “cuts for vets” from the Shear Performance Barbershop team and lunch from the Fishing Panda food truck.

Net proceeds from the walk will go toward supporting veterans across Canada in recovery programs, as well as participation in the 2025 Invictus Games.
