CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack’s newest Little Free Library at Vedder Park contains the hand-crafted work of some pretty creative students from nearby Stitó:s Lá:lém Totí:lt Elementary School, just up the Vedder Rotary Loop Trail.

Chilliwack resident Tony Gore says two elementary classes were instrumental in contributing the imagery to the book house. Mr. Froese’s grade 3 class from the 2023-24 school year produced the space theme on one half of the book house, while Mrs. Ngieng’s grade 1/2 class created water themes on the other half.

The Rotary Club of Chilliwack, known for promoting its annual book sale and supporting scholarships for graduating Chilliwack secondary students, will stock and maintain Chilliwack’s newest Little Free Library with books.

“I think it was really awesome to have the kids from the school involved with creating it as it connected them with the Rotary Club and the City of Chilliwack,” Gore said. “I think connecting the kids with the community is very important for the future. The kids were all incredibly excited to be a part of it.”

The project came to fruition when Gore asked Gidney Signs, a family-owned and operated business that was established in Chilliwack in 1978, to produce the graphic wrap depicted on the decorative book house.

“Gidney Signs did put extra effort into making it look really cool,” Gore said.

The Gore Brothers are longtime Chilliwack residents who have supported multiple Little Library book houses, animal welfare projects, and given back to the community in countless ways. As a developer, they were instrumental in the development of Garrison as a thriving, desirable, walkable community in Sardis.

The Little Library was installed Tuesday morning, September 19 near the Vedder Bridge.
