Sardis Falcons blank Salmon Arm in Rick Klassen Game to make it two wins in a row

CHILLIWACK — It wasn’t an offensive spectacle by any means, but it’s hard to argue with the outcome after the Sardis Falcons shut out Salmon Arm 6-0 Friday (Sept. 13) in the annual Rick Klassen Game at Rick Klassen Field in Sardis.

Coming off a 26-20 exhibition win over the Mission Roadrunners last week, the Falcons scored the game’s only points when senior running back Tim Bullert found the end zone on a 3-yard touchdown run. Sardis missed the two-point conversion attempt. Bullert was a steady source of offensive production with 89 rushing yards on 20 carries.

On defence, Falcons senior linebacker Jeremy St. Denis made a key interception to stall a Salmon Arm drive. Sardis defensive end Cache Klein, a senior, pressured the Salmon Arm quarterback all game. Klein finished the game with three quarterback sacks.

Both teams played solid defence and limited any big plays from either offence, but it was the Falcons who remained especially solid as Salmon Arm threatened to score late in the game.

“This was a tough game,” said Sardis Falcons head coach Sukh Parmar. “Hats off to Salmon Arm. They came here to play. They were tough and physical. They pushed us to be our best late in the game. We have several areas for improvement. We’ll keep working to get better.”
