Chilliwack Chiefs finish preseason with 3-0 mark, including thrilling overtime goal from Caleb Malhotra
CHILLIWACK — The Chilliwack Chiefs capped off their third and final preseason game Sunday with a 3-2 overtime win over the Surrey Eagles, last year’s Fred Page Cup champions.
Chilliwack dominated the opening period by outshooting the Eagles 14-3. Savin Virk scored the Chiefs’ first goal to make it four goals in three preseason games.
Surrey notched their first goal in the second period after a Chiefs turnover at the top of the offensive zone. That enabled Jackson Anderson to race away on a breakaway and score past Chiefs goaltender Sebastian Gatto.
Both teams traded goals in the third period. Brady Milburn scored first for the Chiefs on an unassisted goal off an Eagles turnover, while Surrey’s equalizer came on a score from Ryan White, thrusting the game into a 2-2 overtime.
