Highway 5 in Kamloops closed in both directions due to accident, fuel spill

KAMLOOPS — RCMP say a fuel spill closed Highway 5 in both directions about three kilometres north of Rayleigh, late Saturday.

Police spokesperson Cpl. Brett Urano said a tanker truck’s trailer flipped in a single-vehicle incident near the Tournament Capital Ranch.

There were no injuries, according to Urano.

“We request the public’s patience while crews clean up fuel and remove the vehicle from the highway,” he said Sunday morning.

“We are continuing to investigate with our partners to determine the cause of the incident.”
