Abbotsford cidery seeks unused apples from producers to raise funds for local search and rescue

ABBOTSFORD – An initiative is once again seeking unused apples to brew cider to fund vital rescue gear for Central Fraser Valley Search and Rescue (CFVSAR).

Last year, Abbotsford-based Taves Estate Cidery made a blackberry vanilla cider using ‘rescued’ apples from farmers and community members.

The outlet hopes to do the same in 2024 through a similar bulk apple drop-off program that is now underway.

Taves is offering those donating the fruit a complimentary tasting of Tux’s Treasure cider and a 500ml bottle of the new batch when it’s ready next fall.
