Mission RCMP hope to locate suspects in road rage incident that hospitalized two
MISSION — Mounties in Mission say they’re appealing to the public for help in locating two suspects who were allegedly involved in a road rage incident that sent two victims to hospital.
According to a statement from Corporal Harrison Mohr, spokesperson for the Mission RCMP detachment, police say two young adults in a grey Honda Civic were in the drive-through lane of a Tim Hortons at Lougheed Highway and the Cedar Valley Connector on Sunday morning, September 8, shortly after 10 a.m., when they honked at a black Chevy Malibu sedan in front of them because the vehicle was not moving forward in the lineup. After the Malibu exited the drive-through lane, police say the Malibu waited for the Civic to pick up its food and exit the drive-through lane. The Malibu drove up beside the Civic and the female occupant of the Malibu threw her coffee cup at the Civic. The Malibu continued following the Civic for approximately two kilometres until they reached the intersection of Bakerview Avenue and Cedar Street. Police say the occupants of the Malibu exited their vehicle and assaulted a male and female in the Civic with a baseball bat, before getting back into the Malibu and driving off.
Cpl. Mohr says a 20-year-old female and a 20-year-old male, both from Mission, were transported to hospital with significant but non-life-threatening injuries. Police say the Malibu was later located unoccupied and seized by police.
“This appears to have been an extreme case of road rage,” Cst. Mohr said. “I’m sure we’ve all seen someone in a drive-through lane give a little honk to let the person in front know they can move up. No one expects to be assaulted as a result of it. We wish both victims a full and speedy recovery, and are working on locating and arresting the suspects.”
