RCMP Constable Frederick “Rick” O’Brien to be included on memorial wall at national service

REGINA – The RCMP’s annual memorial service remembering those killed in the line of duty will add a Lower Mainland officer to its honour roll on Sunday.

Constable Frederick “Rick” O’Brien’s name will be added to a memorial wall at the national service set for Sunday morning at the RCMP Academy, Depot Division, in Regina.

O’Brien was killed in September 2023 while executing a search warrant in Coquitlam.

Last October, about 5,000 people participated in a Langley service for O’Brien that included a procession of first responders from RCMP detachments and other law enforcement agencies.

The RCMP Memorial Service on Sept. 8 will be open to the public and live-streamed at 7 a.m. PST on the RCMP Depot Division’s YouTube channel.
