MOUNT OUTRAM (MANNING PROVINCIAL PARK) — Mount Outram is a sought after destination for backcountry hikers as one of the highest Cascade Range peaks in southern British Columbia.

However, a hiker that managed to reach the top of the roughly 8,000-foot summit needed help during the weekend, prompting a call for service to Hope Search and Rescue.

The non-profit, all-volunteer organization says its members were paged to assist a stranded hiker Friday night (Sept. 6) at the top of Mount Outram. The hiker was located, and its team of rescue volunteers hiked out safely. They returned to base early Saturday at 3:30 a.m.

“Hope Search and Rescue would like to take this opportunity to remind hikers to leave a trip plan with a person you trust and always carry your 10 essentials,” the group said.
