RCMP say man found dead along highway near Merritt victim of hit and run

SURREY – Police believe a man found dead at the side of a highway in Merritt, B.C., late last month was likely struck by a vehicle.
RCMP highway patrol believes the hit-and-run happened between August 25 and 30 and is seeking video footage from cars and trucks that were traveling along Highway 5 at exit 286.
“August 25 to 30 is a five-day window,” said Cpl. Melissa Jongema. “There were a lot of vehicles coming through the area with dashcams.”
Jongema says they’re seeking witnesses who may have seen a man near the roadway wearing a grey hoodie and black track pants, or perhaps witnessed the accident itself.
