B.C. NDP maintains slim lead over B.C. Conservatives, but polling suggests BC United tax cut hasn’t moved the needle

CHILLIWACK — The B.C. New Democratic Party maintains a slim lead in the latest provincial polling, whose findings that suggest BC United’s proposed tax cut has not swayed voters just yet.

Between August 14-16, Toronto-based Abacus Data says it conducted a survey of 1,000 eligible voters in British Columbia to examine and measure their views on provincial politics and civic functions, like the role of government. Abacus says the poll was a standalone survey during which questions about provincial politics were asked before any questions about federal politics.

The survey was also conducted entirely after BC United Leader Kevin Falcon of the official opposition announced that his party would cut provincial income taxes if elected.

Abacus says the B.C. NDP has the support of 42 per cent of committed voters, a two-point increase from May 2024, while the B.C. Conservatives are right on their heels in second-place with 37 per cent, up three per cent from May. BC United ranked tied for third with 10 per cent, a drop of three per cent from May 2024, while the BC Green Party is 10 per cent, unchanged from its last survey.
