One dead in Abbotsford motorcycle crash

ABBOTSFORD — A motorcyclist was killed Saturday afternoon in a collision at the intersection of Golden Avenue and Trethewey Street in Abbotsford.

A news release from the Abbotsford Police Department reports the crash occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. When officers arrived at the crash scene, they found that a motorcycle had collided with a light standard. Despite the response of emergency personnel, the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

AbbyPD Patrol Officers, with support from the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS), remain at the site of the collision as they conduct an investigation. The intersection has been closed to traffic, and authorities are advising motorists to avoid the area.

Investigators have not released the identity of the deceased individual. Officers are still trying to determine the cause of the crash and whether other vehicles were involved.

Abbotsford police are appealing to the public for information on the crash. Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has dashcam footage from the area around the time of the collision.
