Update: Victim in pellet gun assault reportedly located, but not cooperating with Merritt RCMP

UPDATE THURSDAY AT 2 P.M.: The Merritt Herald is now reporting that Mounties in Merritt have located the victim of the pellet gun assault, but the victim is not cooperating with the investigation. Merritt RCMP has expressed thanks to the public for their assistance.

MERRITT – Mounties in Merritt are seeking information pertaining to a pellet gun assault that occurred in front of the Old Barley Market Wednesday evening (Aug. 14).

At around 6 p.m. Wednesday evening, police responded to a report of a male being shot in the head with a pellet gun in front of the Old Barley Market on Quilchena Avenue.

Upon arrival to the area officers immediately located the suspect, who was taken into custody without any issues.

The victim was not located and fled the scene shortly after the incident occurred. The extent of his injuries are unknown and police are trying to locate him.

Through investigation it was determined that all parties were known to each other and the victim was targeted by the suspect.

The suspect was held for investigation and then released on conditions.
