New restaurant coming to Chilliwack

Irish-themed restaurant slated to open in September in Chilliwack

CHILLIWACK — An Irish-themed restaurant that’s been offering free birthday dinners to patrons for over 30 years is tentatively set to open next month on Luckakuck Way in Chilliwack.

Kelly O’Bryan’s Restaurant and Carlos O’Bryan’s Pubs, a watering hole within a restaurant, is slated to open sometime in September 2024 at 45610 Luckakuck Way, almost directly across from the Starbucks on the Cottonwood Centre mall property, according to its website.

Kelly O’Bryan’s Restaurant says its family restaurants and Carlos O’Bryan’s pubs feature delicious food and beverages at competitive prices, while its staff strive to create a “fun and relaxing atmosphere to go for brunch, lunch and dinner, with the goal that you’ll have a great time with your your friends and family.”

The restaurant and pub chain has locations in Kelowna, West Kelowna, Vernon, two in Kamloops, as well as venues in Nanaimo, Kitsilano (Vancouver), New Westminster and in Courtenay on Vancouver Island.

On its website, the restaurant chain says it was the first restaurant franchise to introduce the “Birthday Tradition” where patrons eat free on their birthday. More specifically, Kelly O’Bryan’s offers $20 off menu items before 4 p.m., or $30 off menu items after 4 p.m., so long as people bring a friend with them and prove it’s their birthday.

“This started out as a way to thank customers for their support throughout the year, but eventually we decided to take it further and donate one dollar from every birthday to local food banks across B.C.” the franchise said.

Its appetizers have a starting price point of $17.50 up to the $19.50 range for appies like chicken quesadillas, Irish yorkies (Yorkshire pudding), dry garlic ribs, chicken wings, stuffed mushrooms and togarashi tuna.

Its signature dish is known as pachos, which are lattice-style fries seasoned with spice, topped with cheddar cheese, spiced beef, onions, peppers and tomatoes. Pachos for one runs $14.95, while pachos for two people will cost $29.95.

Its menu also offers hearty soups, salads, prime rib, fish and chips, stews, multiple hamburger varieties and steak.
