Kamala Harris poised to become the Democratic presidential nominee

WASHINGTON D.C.— U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris is set to become the Democrats’ standard-bearer for the 2024 presidential election. The official announcement will be made Monday night, following the results of online voting by delegates.

The moment caps a tumultuous period for the party after President Joe Biden’s disastrous debate performance and subsequent withdrawal from the race.

Harris, the daughter of immigrants, rose through California’s political and law enforcement ranks to become the first female vice president in U.S. history.

She clinches the nomination more than four years after her initial presidential bid collapsed.
