YARROW/CHILLIWACK — Roughly a month after a Chilliwack-area coffee truck sadly discontinued its operations along Yarrow Central Road, a new coffee outfit has cropped up in the quaint enclave of Yarrow, giving residents there another venue for caffeine fixes bright and early.

Bear Mountain Coffee, a mom-and-pop style coffee truck, launched sometime around Monday, July 22 in the parking lot of Yarrow Building Supplies Ltd. at 41924 Yarrow Central Road.

After its opening date, likely on Monday, July 22, Bear Mountain Coffee wrote on Facebook: “Thank you to everyone who came out to support us today, what an amazing community to be a part of! See you tomorrow 7-11:30.”

Although it is still in its beginning stage, Bear Mountain Coffee has since expanded its hours to be 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. It also has a presence at the Yarrow Farm Market from 5 p.m. to dusk Friday evenings.

Earlier this year, Yarrow Coffee Co. opened near Eckert Road and Yarrow Central Road, giving Yarrow residents a convenient place on the town’s main drag to purchase drinks and other local goods. That business previously opened its doors around April 24, but would later post on May 14 that it had decided to discontinue its operations and sell its coffee trailer. Yarrow Coffee Co. attributed the sudden closure to the “logistics of managing other jobs, family responsibilities and giving the full time commitment the community deserves have proven to be too much.”
