CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack resident Michael Berger has parlayed a passion for art and history into a niche business that aims to enchant and educate visitors to Chilliwack about its storied past.

Berger has opened Chilliwack Tours, a new business committed to showcasing the rich history, vibrant public art and colorful murals through immersive 60-90 minute walking tours that illuminate hidden gems and cultural treasures of Chilliwack.

“Chilliwack is a city with a rich tapestry of history and a thriving artistic and creative scene,” said Berger, founder of Chilliwack Tours. “After volunteering as a tour guide at the 2023 Chilliwack Mural Festival, I noticed the reactions I received when I shared historical tidbits of Chilliwack along with the incredible stories and vibrant art that often go unnoticed. These tours are a way to celebrate our city’s heritage and connect people to the artistic heartbeat of Chilliwack.”

Chilliwack Tours says it collaborates closely with organizers of the Chilliwack Mural Festival, acting as their official tour partner. Spectators who sign up with Chilliwack Tours can expect to visit iconic murals, explore historical landmarks and marvel at the public art installations that differentiate Chilliwack. Berger says each tour is carefully curated to facilitate an engaging, thoughtful experience, making it ideal for history buffs, art aficionados and families alike.

“By taking part in a walking tour, locals and visitors alike can gain a deeper appreciation for the artistic and historical significance of our city,” Berger said. “It’s about fostering a sense of community pride and encouraging people to see Chilliwack through a new lens. We want everyone to leave our tours feeling inspired and more connected to the place we call home.”

Visit Chilliwack Tours on Facebook or Instagram to learn more about the company. Their email is info@chilliwacktours.com, or call Berger direct at 604-798-0215. A website detailing the company and its mission will go live at some point in the future.
