Freedom Mobile expands coverage area to Chilliwack and Hope
CHILLIWACK — Low-cost telecommunications provider Freedom Mobile announced Tuesday (July 23) it has expanded its service area to include Chilliwack, Hope and other cities in British Columbia and Alberta.
In a statement, the company says over 250,000 more Canadians can subscribe to Freedom Mobile’s affordable slate of wireless services as the telecom expands to Chilliwack, Hope, Salmon Arm and Revelstoke, and Camrose, Wetaskiwin and Edson in Alberta.
The company says the this latest market expansion is made possible by partner agreements enabled by the CRTC’s MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) framework which also recently enabled Freedom to launch its services in Manitoba.
“Consumers from across Canada have been demanding more competition in wireless for a very long time,” says Pierre Karl Péladeau, President and CEO of Quebecor, the parent company of Freedom Mobile. “We’re happy to continue to bring Canadians the many benefits of having a strong fourth player in the market.”
