SURREY — Surrey RCMP is advising the public of an unusually disturbing sexual assault in the Bear Creek area and asking the public for information.

Early Saturday (Jul. 20) at 3:15 a.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a sexual assault in the 14100 block of 91 Avenue. The victim reported that she was woken up by a stranger groping her in her residence. The victim screamed for help and the suspect fled.

Frontline officers and the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Unit responded and conducted the initial investigation. Despite patrols through the area, the suspect was not located. The Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit has now taken control of the investigation. Officers are canvassing the area in the hope of finding the suspect on home videos or dashcam videos. In the meantime, the woman is being supported by the Surrey RCMP Victim Services.

The suspect is described as a South Asian man in his early 20s, 5’7” to 5’10” tall, average build, and had a long black beard.
