**Update at 4:50 p.m.: BC Wildfire Service now says the fire north of Boston Bar is being held, meaning it should not expand beyond its current size of 2.2 hectares. Crews continue to establish control lines and mop up hot spots.**

**Update at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday: BC Wildfire Service says the fire north of Boston Bar has doubled to 2.2 hectares, up from this morning’s estimate of 1.17 hectares.**

BOSTON BAR — BC Wildfire Service says it has deployed two initial attack crews, a response officer and helicopter support to a fast-growing, out of control fire north of Boston Bar.

The fire was discovered around 5 p.m. Tuesday (July 16) and has since grown to 1.17 hectares as of Wednesday morning. BC Wildfire Service says the fire is located approximately 16 kilometres north of Boston Bar, adjacent to the Fraser River, and is displaying what’s known as rank 3 behaviour, defined as a moderately vigorous surface fire.

CN Rail staff are also on scene.

Smoke is very visible from Highway 1 and the surrounding areas.

The suspected cause is under investigation.
