**Update at 1:47 p.m. Thursday: Surrey RCMP now says Highway 99 northbound from King George to Highway to Highway 91 has reopened, and traffic is flowing once again, after a single-vehicle collision overnight resulted in a fatality.**

SURREY — Mounties in Surrey say northbound Highway 99 from King George Highway to Highway 91 is currently shut down  Thursday morning to a serious vehicle collision that resulted in a fatality.

On Thursday, July 11, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Surrey RCMP members were dispatched for the report of a single-vehicle collision on Highway 99 North of King George Highway.

According to a statement from Sgt. Alan Windover, watch commander for Surrey RCMP frontline offficers, police say one of the occupants has been declared deceased at scene.

The integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service has been summoned to assist the Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision investigation Team with the investigation.

Traffic in the area will be affected for an undetermined amount of time as officers continue their investigation. A road closure is in effect with northbound Hwy 99 traffic being diverted at King George Highway. The public are requested to avoid the area until further notice.

The investigation is in its early stages. Investigators are collecting statements and canvassing for video. Anyone with information, including dash cam Footage in the area Hwy 99 at King George Highway during the time leading up to the collision is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file 24-100747.
